My latest thrift store find (actually from a couple of months ago) was this blazer. I was inspired by this one here. Basically, did you know that blazers are cool? because they are cool.
The patches were tricky to add, but so worth it because patches are cool (you know you want some too). All I need now is a bow tie. My brothers wear bow ties, because bow ties are cool.
Oh, and I feel cool jumping in it; definitely a winner.
Here's what I basically did.
Because there is a lining, I had to find the spot where they hand stitched it closed. I then took out the stitch and turned the coat inside out. I then took in the darts in the back (where the arrows point) until it fit me better.
As for the elbow patches, I had an old leather jacket (also thrifted) that I had been using for random projects and cut ovals for the patches. Using embroidery thread, I did a blanket stitch to put the patch on. This took me a while, actually the first time the patch ended up in an odd spot, so I took it out and did it again.
Well there you have it, my super cool thrifted-elbow patched blazer!
