The Snake Winter Headband- Crochet Pattern - Sisters, What!

The Snake Winter Headband- Crochet Pattern

I've been meaning to post this tutorial for a while, but just haven't gotten around to it for various reasons. But since it's still winter and cold in many places, it's definitely not too late to make one.
This is a simple and cute headband that is easy and lined with fleece to make it warm and not itchy. Perfect for the beginner or pro crocheter.

The Snake Winter Headband - Crochet Pattern
My husband said that the squiggly touch of yarn on top reminds him of a snake, so I have name this The Snake Winter Headband. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Remember, it's easy!

Level: Easy

Materials:
- Yarn: For this particular headband I used a cotton wool blend yarn (sorry I don't know the name of the yarn). But any yarn would work
- Hook: I used a J hook, but an I, J, or K would work fine.
- Yarn needle
- optional:  fleece for a lining
button and elastic hair band to secure the headband

Pattern:

Part 1: Chain 9 (if you want it wider or thinner, either add or subtract - this might make a difference depending on your yarn choice)
Row 1: half double crochet stitch in second stitch and across rest of row. chain 1 and repeat in the rest of rows until the headband fits around your head perfectly.

Part 2 - Option A with Button:
if you wish to add a button with an elastic band, sew the elastic on one side of band (with machine or by hand) and then sew the button on other side of band using yarn needle

Part 2 - Option B without button
Stitch together both ends using a yarn needle

Part 3 - Adding Fleece:
If you choose to add fleece, cut a piece that is the same length and width as headband. Using a thread that coordinates yarn, sew fleece on with machine.

Part 4 - adding the 'Snake':

This will depend on however long you want the 'snake' to be on the headband
A. Start chaining and periodically check the length on the head band by situating it up and down on headband, so it looks like a snake. Once you've determine the length you want...
B. hdc in second stitch, 2 hdc, 1 hdc, repeat until head of chain.
C. using a yarn needle and coordinating yarn, sew your snake on where the original chain was. If you like to, you can pin it in place first to determine where you want it to be.

and your done!

  1. Hi there! I just wanted to let you know that this post is being taken without consent, and uploaded onto this site: http://www.craftsbyjen.com/scrapbook/view_project.php?link_number=3216

I have 3 projects over there as well.. asked her to take them down, I have not heard anything- so if she does not I will report her site to Google. This is not fair to us. Yes she gives our link..but it takes 2 clicks on her site to actually get to our link. Money in her pocket for our hard work. Also she is pinning these: http://pinterest.com/pin/287597126176684228/
And it is going back to her site. This might be ok with you-- it is not for me...so I thought I would let you know what was going on over there.

I loved your post-- too cute!
