If you like to sew, you make like this floral sewing machine sticker:

My 4 year old loves the game memory. We've played all sort of versions: animals, trains, dinosaur, etc...So I've been working on a fun little gift for him, an ABC matching game.

I've seen fabric memory games around and I decided it would be a perfect reason to use my scrap fabric and felt. I cut some heat transfer vinyl using my silhouette into ABC's and shapes and ironed them onto some fabric scraps. I then sewed them onto felt.

An easy project but I did ALOT of squares so it took me a bit to piece them all together.

I even made another see through zipper bag to put all the squares in.

Supplies:

Cutting:

Felt Pieces: First decide how many memory pieces you want. I did all 26 letters of the alphabet and some for shapes. SO I needed to cut 104 felt pieces. You will need 2 felt pieces for each memory piece one for the back and a window for the scrap fabric. Thus for each match you need 4 total squares. I did 3"x 3"

Scrap Fabric: pick 26 fabric scraps and cut 2 of each about 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"
Fabric Stabilizer: 52  2 1/2" x 2 1/2" stabilizer

Step 1:

If you're adding on ABC's and shapes, cut them out using your cutting machine. I did upper and lower case. Make sure to make them mirror image.

Step 2:

Next, iron the letters onto your fabric and iron your stabilizer at the same time.

Step 3:

Now take half of your felt squares and mark a square at the 2 1/2" mark and cut out a middle square. I find that folding it in half and then cutting makes this a little quicker.

Step 4:

Next your going to take your fabric scraps and attach to your squares that you cut out the little squares out of.

Step 5:

Using a zig zag stitch, sew it onto the felt.

Step 6:

Then add the solid felt square and sew it onto the front piece. I did two stitches around the whole outer edge, but you can do just one.
